Biography

Gianpiero Castiglioni was born in Laveno Mombello (Varese) in 1940.
He is a painter and a printing and engraving expert in Varese, the town where he lives and works
via Presolana, 1 - 21100 Varese.

In the 60’s he attends window dressing and graphics courses at E.N.A.I.P. (Varese) and here his lifelong research on painting begins; then he follows copperplate engraving courses with Prof. Sandini and in 1987/1988 he starts a collaboration on fresco with Prof. Francesco Fedeli (met at a workshop in Sesto Calende) improving new techniques concerning “matter” and “substance”, the real core of his painting.

He has been a member of Varese Artists’ Group since 1982 taking part from 1983 in all the editions of “San Fermo: Un borgo da riscoprire” (Va) and from 1997 in all the editions of “Associazione Naviglio Grande” (Mi).
He exhibits his works in collective exhibitions in the Usa (Mexico City in 1986 - Washington and Las Vegas in 1989) and in Poland (Czestochowa “Holy Art Exhibition”) in 1991.
He paints wall frescos in Runo (Varese) in 1979/1980, on the front of Borgnana Church (Varese) and in The Holy Heart Chapel in Brenno Useria in 1988, in Cadorago (Como) in 1989, in Legro (Orta), in Fignano di Gavirate (Va) in “Muri Dipinti” and graffiti (2001).
His works have been included in Collezione “Archivio Sartori” in Mantua, in Raccolta “Gabinetto delle Stampe Antiche e Moderne” (Bagnocavallo- Ra) and Raccolta “Pulcino Elefante” di Alberto Casiraghi.
In 2003 he takes part in “Sixieme Triennale Mondiale d’Astapes Petit Format”, Chmalières (France)
